Hey, That’s My Cape! – Aquaman Needs A New Costume

Hey guys. I don’t know if you heard the news but Heartless Doll is no more. :( I had tons of fun working with the ladies over there but there are all still very much in my life so that is good news. But wait! I have more good news. Newsarama has picked up my column so that it may continue! Viva la Hey, That’s My Cape!!!

I made an observation the other day while reading Brightest Day #1, specifically while looking at Mera and Aquaman. Those characters could really use new costumes. I know, we’re all extremely picky about how our favorite characters are presented. I’m sure I’d scream bloody murder on the internet if DC ever made a major change to the Green Lantern uniforms but hear me out.
Without further ado, click on over to Newsarama to check out this week’s Hey, That’s My Cape!

  1. I get your point but wouldn't having a scale costume be better than speedo since fish uh live in the water (Ugh that's sounds dumb)? But I do like the shark skin concept and they will have to update their costumes eventually. However, the scales look so pretty when they shimmer in light. Plus, bullets bounce off them, I doubt speedo can beat that.

    I love your blog!

While I'm happy for you that you got picked up by a frequently viewed site like Newsarama, I'm sorry you're going to have to deal with all of the negative little trolls that reside over there.

And yeah, I totally agree that Aquaman needs a more modern looking costume that retains many of the design elements as his classic costume (much like GL).

I was so enjoying Heartless Doll. I'm sorry to see it end. I'm excited that your column will continue though. I love the title.

  4. He looks like a goldfish. I guess if other superheroes never existed hedd be fine but he always seemed especially weak to me, though.

  5. Okay, so first off, I'd like to say this is the first of many comments I'll probably be leaving on this blog.

Just discovered you today (thanks to Newsarama picking up your article) and am eagerly anticipating reading more from you.

I agree with you, that Aquaman and Mera need new costumes. In fact, Mera needs to WEAR a costume. In Brightest Day #0, of the 11 panels she was in, she was naked in 6 of them and wearing a sheet in the other 5.

    Yeah …

So, I've been reading where more and more companies want product placement in comics and video games — perfect opportunity for Speedo! XD

    Keep up the awesome work!
