Speak, Nerd, and Enter!

madmaxhangoff

It’s going to be a rough week here in the United States, let’s talk about some stuff that makes us happy.

Of course, as with all Speak, Nerd, and Enter posts, you’re still welcome to talk about anything not already posted elsewhere on TheNerdyBird.com, I’m just looking for nice thoughts to fill my head. :)

I’ve got a Doctor Strange open thread coming up next so save your movie spoilers for that please! [UPDATE: Here’s a link to that post!]

You can get sort of a look at Killer Frost’s new costume here:

Thing I did this weekend: talked to the great-great grandson of Charles Dickens. About Star Wars.

Long story short, Gerald Dickens is an actor who does a one-man stage show of his ancestor’s most famous story, and his current US tour had a performance a few hours from me so I went early to get an autograph but the gift shop was completely inaccessible. I handed the book to my TAB assistant (AKA my mother. We’d decided to make the trip a girls’ day out and do some Christmas shopping before the show.) saying to just go in and get it signed, but a few minutes later she comes out with a guy dressed in Victorian garb. Evidently when she mentioned that I was stuck outside he decided to come to me! It was very sweet of him, and as he signed we talked for a minute about the show. He saw the “Vote Vader: Together We Can Rule The Galaxy” button on my jacket and asked wasn’t the new movie coming out next month? I replied yes and he said how incredible it was that there wasn’t a long wait like with the previous Star Wars films. I was still too awestruck to mention that it was a standalone instead of Episode 8–it was just so surreal! The show was great by the way, I highly recommend it if you get the chance!

In other news the replacement parts for my poor broken ‘chair arrived tomorrow (Technicality today. Thanks second shift.) AND I have the day off and won’t be stuck in the newsroom forever waiting for results to come in like we did with the end of the World Series. I never would have guessed I’d actually be looking *forward* to Election Day!

  3. Lot of thoughts today, lot of work today, but…here’s your gentle Election Eve reminder to please get out and vote tomorrow. For the right candidate. The one that isn’t a human trash pile dressed like a swollen, hairy thumb.

I’ve decided that the only way I’m going to get through Tuesday is a Steven Universe marathon. Steven is like the anti-Trump. I refuse to watch or listen to one minute of election coverage, just the goings-on in Beach City.

The real conspiracy is in Gravity Falls. I kid. It is a fun show to watch tho, same with the French language Wakfu.
