Torchwood doesn’t do maternity leave.

The 21st century is when everything changes for Torchwood star Eve Myles. She’s expecting her first child and no, it’s not an alien. At least, she hopes it isn’t.

“We went for a scan and my mum was there,” the 31-year-old actress said. “And my mum went: ‘No, it’s not a Nostrovite! It’s a real Welsh human!’ But of course it crosses my mind – I hope it’s not an alien!” She’s got a great sense of humor considering that’s exactly what happened to her during the shows second season. Remember when Jack said this: “Rhys might forgive her for going down the aisle pregnant, but not giving birth to a razor-toothed monster that eats half his family.”

Myles and her partner decided to try for a child after she wrapped the upcoming Torchwood: Children of Earth special. “I’ve wanted to do this for such a long time, but I kept getting job after job after job,” she said, “I thought, if I put this off any more I’m going to be 65.” She added that they are “over the moon,” and she hopes the creators decide to make Gwen Cooper a mother should they continue with the show, “It’s not like I have to really save the world – I just have to sit in make-up!” Congratulations to the beautiful Welsh lady who’s going to make a beautiful Welsh mommy.
