Tom Hiddleston to Star in “Bromance” Spy Thriller with Hugh Laurie
Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie starring together in a spy thriller? This may just destroy the universe as we know it.
Entertainment Weekly has details on The Night Manager, a miniseries adaptation of John le Carré’s New York Times Best Selling book of the same name [Editor’s Note: Affiliate link – The Night Manager]. Originally meant to be a film, the project turned into a miniseries. Le Carré’s son and The Night Manager executive producer Simon Cornwell said the book had too vast a scope, “It just doesn’t fit into two hours.”
EW says it will star “Tom Hiddleston as MI-6 field agent and strong-silent type Jonathan Pine and Hugh Laurie as Richard Roper, a morally ambiguous weapons dealer whom Pine is tasked with bringing down.”
Executive producer Stephen Garrett said, “The best way I can describe the story is the thriller equivalent of a bromance.” I’m not entirely sure what that means but I like it.
Olivia Colman (Broadchurch) will also add to the already spectacular cast as Hiddleston’s genderswapped MI-6 handler, now called Angela Burr.
The six-episode miniseries will air on the BBC and AMC this coming April.
So we peons will have to wait 3 years and have the cuss words beeped out . . .
I feel like…Bromance is a horrible word that applies to every single male/male relationship and thus none of them. Like, Riggs and Murtaugh or Turner and Hooch.
