You Can Finally Find Out What Form Your Patronus Takes on Pottermore!
If you know me, or follow me writing here, you know I’m big into Harry Potter. I also have a contentious relationship with Pottermore. But today they unleashed the Patronus test and we’re all better for it.
I woke up this morning to people sharing their results from the brand new Patronus test on Pottermore and couldn’t wait until I could get to a computer to take it myself. I didn’t realize when I started that it said it would be better with headphones on but apparently it’s extra immersive if you do it that way.
After a brief Patronus explainer, the test begins with you “walking” through a forest. You’re asked to keep a happy memory in mind. The questions are very simple. Actually, they’re not questions are all really, more choices to make. Once you click on several (and apparently the time it takes you to answer is also taken into account), your Patronus is revealed by some interaction on the screen.
I discovered my Patronus is a Pine Marten on @jk_rowling's @pottermore. Find yours: https://t.co/xUcJSa4KH9 #ExpectoPatronum #crying pic.twitter.com/mJ0YHOZThD

I got a pine marten! I watched it dance around the screen for a bit and then went to look it up. It’s the cutest.
Turns out, when they were first testing out the Patronus quiz, Rowling got a pine marten as well!
… my fondness for weaselly creatures is well documented. However, when we finalised the @pottermore test last week I took it again…

But after it was all settled and she took the finalized version she now had a heron.
… so as far as I'm concerned, the @pottermore test works! Here's my Patronus… pic.twitter.com/xnjKfjGMx4

Doesn’t look like there’s any easy way to pull a swank video like that for ourselves unfortunately but here’s how my Pottermore profile looks now.
Looks like there’s a great many creatures to be discovered, including magical creatures in rare cases, but I’m curious how many options there actually are as I’ve seen many people receiving the same animals today. Let me know what you got in the comments once you’ve taken the test! EXPECTO PATRONUM!
I got a basset hound. I have to admit, I didn’t see that coming. Woof woof.
I got an Irish wolfhound, which are awesome ginormous dogs. I’m actually okay with that.
Patronus: Deerhound
Hogwarts house: Hufflepuff
Ilvermorny:Horned Serpent
Wand: Cypress wood with a Unicorn hair core 10 ¾” and Quite Bendy flexibility
A dappled grey mare… strangely very specific…
Boo, I’m a doe.
^_^ I’m a dog.
^_^ Jill, we’re American House Buddies!
>_> …I am in Slytherin at Hogwarts.
But my Patronus is so fantastically perfect and I am very, very pleased.
It’s a Rottweiler.
I am a weasel. I had mixed feeling about, but I think I’m into it now.
Yeah, well I R A Baboon!
…I’m sorry. I just…I had no choice. I’m actually a basset hound.
A rat.
I got. A freaking. Rat.

The only consolation is that my sister took the test twice and got first a wood mouse and then a field mouse. So I guess that means I come from a family of rodents?
^_^ I got a Rottweiler.
Update: My sister took the test *again,* got a sparrow. So… near-random results confirmed?
I don’t even read Harry Potter, but I now know that I am a Hufflepuff and that my Patronus is an Irish Wolfhound. It’s a weird world we live in.
