Nerdy News: Star Wars Bloopers, a Live-Action Carmen Sandiego, and More!

[Editor’s Note: affiliate link] Star Wars: The Last Jedi is available for purchase everywhere now. While its special features do not include this blooper reel (whyyyyyy?) Lucasfilm released this short feature which includes Carrie Fisher slapping Oscar Isaac. A lot.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Colin Trevorrow will be back to direct the third film in the Jurassic World trilogy. To which I say, “Meh.”

Holy cow! Gina Rodriguez was already attached to play Carmen Sandiego for an animated Netflix series but now the streaming service has gone ahead and hired her to play the globetrotting thief in live-action too!

I’m not sure black comedy-thriller Terminal is particularly nerdy but Margot Robbie looks and sounds fantastic in the trailer. The film also stars Simon Pegg, Mike Myers, and Harry Potter actor Matthew Lewis. It’s set to be released May 11, 2018.

In other Margot Robbie news, Deadline reports she’s teaming with the Australian Broadcasting Company to start work “on a new ten-part series, retelling the work of Shakespeare from female perspectives.” Her production company LuckyChap said, “The project will share diverse points of view, from writers representing the different cultures and areas within Australia, which many would not readily associate with works of Shakespeare.”

Humans is headed back to AMC on June 5 for its Season 3 premiere. Above is a first look.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants have had their release dates pushed back to add some new stuff. Here’s hoping it makes for better end products. You can read more on the reasoning and details at io9.

Keeping busy as Managing Editor of io9 of course which means I don’t have a ton of time to write these days. But every once in a while I will! For instance, I really didn’t like The X-Files finale. I also wrote about the Spice Girls working on an animated superhero movie for themselves as well as Hulu passing on (boo!) the Locke & Key pilot.

In other news, I wrote a book last year and you can pre-order it!!!

[Editor’s Note: affiliate link] IncrediBuilds: Marvel: Infinity Gauntlet Deluxe Book and Model Set is one of the latest in a line of fun series of books from Insight Editions. Great for kids but also as a catch-up before Avengers: Infinity War for anyone! Stay tuned, there may be more to come…
