Did a German Amazon Listing Reveal the Black-and-White Mad Max: Fury Road Is Near?

That black-and-white version of Mad Max: Fury Road you’ve been waiting for might just be a reality thanks to Amazon Germany. It lists a Mad Max special edition blu-ray featuring the “Black and Chrome” edition of the George Miller film.

Originally we heard there’d be a black-and-white and silent (just the score version of the film on the home release. Miller himself said “the best version of this movie is black and white,” but the release came and went and that was not one of the features. Producer Doug Mitchell later told ScreenDaily a version definitely exists and could get a theatrical release. Consider the film’s big Oscar wins this year, that’s likely the reason we’ve yet to see it.

But Empire Magazine spotted the pre-order listing for the “Mad Max High Octane Collection” on Amazon.

The description (translated, poorly I’m sure, by Google) reads:

The Collection includes all legendary Mad Max films starring Mel Gibson as Mad Max and George Miller’s remake with Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky: Mad Max, Mad Max 2 – The Road Warrior, Mad Max – Beyond Thunderdome and Mad Max: Fury Road.

Contains the the Madness of Max documentary on DVD, as well as brand new documentation for Mad Max 2 – the Road Warrior, Mad Max 3 – Beyond Thunderdome and Mad Max. Fury Road Contains more than 4 hours of new bonus material: executor documentary: ROAD WAR -In the continuation of the post-apocalyptic classic drives the team epic effort to create a timeless action movie (about 30 minutes) Thunderdome documentary: the cast and crew endured the memorable filming of “Beyond Thunderdome” 50 ° C heat and massive sandstorms (about 45 minutes) Fury Road Doku: GOING MAD – the incredible, improbable, but not entirely impossible battle for the rotation to Fury Road. (about 60 minutes) Fury Road “Black and Chrome” Edition – The surreal black and white film version of Fury Road of the brilliant George Miller (approximately 120 minutes) Also includes the previously released documentary about Mad Max (1979): “Madness of Max “(157 minutes) on DVD

That set seems to have a release date of September 29th in Germany but there doesn’t appear to be a version of this for the U.S. or U.K. yet but fingers crossed. I’d pay for it on blu-ray if it came out first and still pay to see it in theaters again. What about you?

If they’re going to do it like a silent film I would pay extra to watch it in a theater with a live orchestra and sound fx. If that was my only big ticket treat for the year I would do that so much.

My love for Fury road plus my pretentious love for artistic Black and White? count me in!
