Hey, That’s My Cape! – Accio, HARRY POTTER Comics!

I’m having serious separation anxiety. In less than two days I’ll be sitting in a theater for my very last midnight showing of Harry Potter. And sobbing, I’m sure. I’m not one of those people who grew up reading J.K. Rowling’s saga of the boy wizard (I saw the first film in 2001 and then started reading) but the series still holds a very dear place in my heart. And I don’t want to see it go! So, I have a suggestion…

Make Harry Potter comic books.

See my thoughts and reasoning in this week’s Hey, That’s My Cape! at Newsarama.

Great article, and I would kill for Harry Potter comics. The separation anxiety is hitting me hard the morning after the midnight :(

Unfortunately, I think the prospect of Harry Potter comics are highly unlikely. Rowling has never let anyone else write her characters officially and I'd be surprised if that changes anytime in the future. I've read rumours that DC wanted to adapt the Potter books at one point, but the idea was shut down by Rowling.

Where I could see Potter comics being produced (and this is a big maybe) would be for the Pottermore website. Pottermore is meant to be offering new short stories and character info online, and digital comics could be a good source of content for the site.

If they were to make a webcomic for Pottermore, I'd think the most natural story to tell would be to depict what happens at Hogwarts during Deathly Hallows, when Neville and the DA are underground trying to subvert the Death Eater's control of Hogwarts.

  3. I'd prefer a TV series.

See it in IMAX if you get the chance. Fantastic!

  4. I would totally buy HP comics. I'd really buy just about anything HP…see my week of products posts this week to see what I'm DYING to have. I'm really excited for the midnight show though. I'm super sad it's ending of course. HP really was my childhood.

  5. No, they shouldn't.

    Why?

Because I spend too much on comics already.

And I'm unfortunately not going to be able to go to the midnight showing this time around, and it is tearing my HP heart apart.
