Creator Noah Hawley is back for Fargo Season 3 and he’s brought along Ewan McGregor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Carrie Coon, David Thewlis, Scoot McNairy, and more. It premieres April 19th on FX
The Hollywood Reporter said yesterday that none other than General Zod himself, Michael Shannon, is the frontrunner to play Cable in Deadpool 2. So many other names have been floated for the Marvel character it frustrates me they’re looking at yet another actor who’s already played someone from comic books in an adaptation. Shannon has been in Man of Steel and Jonah Hex. Atlanta’s Zazie Beetz was recently cast as Domino in the David Leitch-directed film.
In other comic book news, THR also reports on Sony’s next project – a Silver Sable/Black Cat film. “The studio, already in deep development on villain offshoot Venom, is now developing a feature project centered on the female characters Silver Sable and the Black Cat,” they write. “Chris Yost, who worked on the upcoming Marvel movie Thor: Ragnarok, is writing the script, building on a previous version written by Lisa Joy, the co-creator of HBO’s Westworld.” Considering neither costumed character has been introduced in any Spider-Man film to date (not counting “Felicia Hardy” in Amazing Spider-Man 2), this should be…interesting.
Director Jennifer Yuh Nelson may be gaining Gwendoline Christie for her film Darkest Minds, which already stars Amandla Stenberg and Mandy Moore. THR writes:
Set in an America where a pandemic has killed most of the children and teenagers, the story tells of teens with superpowers who are taken from their families and placed inside internment camps. Stenberg is playing Ruby Daly, a 16-year-old with telekinetic powers who escapes her camp and joins a group of teens on the run from the government. Christie will play a bounty hunter of fugitive teens who takes immense pleasure in her vicious job.
Barre Fong posted an edit of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story leading straight into A New Hope on vimeo.
And a slightly different version…
Speaking of Star Wars, Woody Harrelson recently divulged a tiny bit of info on his character from the Han Solo film. “I play a guy named Beckett who’s kind of a criminal and a mentor to Han,” he said, “That’s all I can say!” I’m sure we’ll know more once Star Wars Celebration rolls around April 13th.
[…] previously when reports suggested Michael Shannon, who played General Zod in Man of Steel, might take the role in the David Leitch-directed film but this is weirder. The Hollywood Reporter […]
I was actually a fan of the Silver Sable comic back in the day, and have always seen a lot of unused potential in Black Cat. Curious to see where this goes.
