Your new spot to talk about anything nerdy (or otherwise) that isn’t already being covered on TheNerdyBird.com!
Here are some cute GIFs. No reason.
In case you missed the big news last week, I’m no longer writing for Uproxx.
So, I've just been let go from Uproxx. If anyone has a line on a full-time gig, preferably one that has health benefits, please let me know.

I’ll still be posting here regularly of course but taking some time to think about what my next step should be.
For Jill.

New Lego Batman trailer featuring Batgirl: https://youtu.be/JBrGZ0PMgqk
You know, I thought of something–is this Barbara Gordon’s first theatrical movie appearance? Yes I know Batgirl was in Batman and Robin, but she was Barbara *Wilson* and Alfred’s niece, not Commissioner Gordon’s daughter…

Did anyone else missed the announcement that Jamie Clayton joined the Mass Effect:Andromeda team, and will be voicing Jien Garson, the very founder of the Andromeda Initiative, or was it just me?

(Yeap, I just found out about it today, and I’m super excited about it, so I’m posting it everywhere XD)
Wife and I gave S2 of Man in the High Castle a shot, and I think I figured out what I don’t like about it: the pacing. Things that should be given whole episodes are instead broken up over several, so that everyone gets a scene in every episode. I won’t spoil for those who haven’t seen it, but after S1’s ending, I would’ve really liked a whole episode of in . I also think the mains on the show are totally boring.
Found this while I was searching through some old files, figured I’d share it where it will be appreciated.
I had the idea ages ago to do a Joker Blogs-inspired Oracle web series. Start it out with her immediately post-TKJ and do an “Oracle Begins” thing–her therapist recommends she do a video diary to help with the trauma, she slowly realizes the web can work just like a mask, etc. I quickly realized an audio version would be a whole lot less complicated than video, so it became audio diaries/podcast instead of a vlog. I never got really far, but this partial script (well past the season 1 “Oracle Begins” stage) is as much as I wrote:
Oracle Audio Diaries, January 16.
It’s a quiet night in Gotham. A major snow storm’s buried the city in a foot and a half of snow, so everyone’s spending the night cooped up inside. Even Mr. Freeze is holed up in his warehouse with a mug of cocoa. Got him right there on security camera. Don’t worry, I’ll have Tim pick him up in the morning.
The bridge to Bludhaven is completely iced over, so Dick’s spending the night.
[pause, then explanatorily] One the couch! He’s still in the doghouse after that whole “Power Girl” thing.
[aside] Doghouse? Birdhouse? Whatever…
[back to the topic at hand] He was all “Doctor Psycho made me think it was you, baby!” but Wally said he reached straight for second base through Karen’s “cleavage window.” Hmm, I wonder if Diana’d let me borrow her lasso…
Cool idea. I’m way into fan films/art/fiction type stuff so it’s I can definitely appreciate it. Especially for a story that focuses on Oracle kinda getting started. Even though there’s something nice about keeping the mystery of how characters got to kind of uber-competent roles, I do think it’s interesting territory.
: / TERRIBLE and NO GOOD and VERY BAD news, Jill. I hope that some of the hooks you’ve put out get reeled in with big fat fish on them. I don’t see why goddamn not. If I can do anything to help, you barely have to ask (you do LITERALLY have to ask, because I’m not psychic, though).
Thanks again, Adam. At this point it’s kind of like, do I want to dive right back in to what I was doing or try and branch out because internet writing isn’t super secure?
I get that. Like, you tried and got bonked on the head. As long as you can protect yourself (shelter, health insurance), I would say to have courage…
But there are also quite a few people that have made compromises and do what they love to do on the side. : / I’m not saying it’s great. In fact, I’ll only say it’ll keep you from going crazy.
Any chance for a Mission: Impossible-style break-in and takeover at the The Mothership? Arr.
Ha, well yeah I definitely thought about getting just a regular job to relieve the stress. As for the mothership, lol lol lol
It’s worth thinking about. I won’t say I’m freaking thrilled to be a tech writer, but it takes the edge off.
You sure? Let’s check: what number am I thinking of?
https://m.popkey.co/9d1daf/a0KEk.gif ?
OK, that’s just cheating. You saw the recent Bill & Ted’s Honest Trailer too, right?
THAT explains that. XD I was wondering why it was at the front of my brain.
That phenomenon is scary. I remember once having a random Star Wars quote running through my head, then my sister–who lives 500 miles away–texted it to me out of the blue. Must have been something in the news or something than made us both think of the same thing.
Or the Force.
