Speak, Nerd, and Enter!

Your new open thread to chat about anything under the sun! Yes, I did make a Daenerys My Little Pony for myself at one point. Shoosh.

Working on another post for the site at the moment but a quick casting note I just saw – Entertainment Weekly says iZombie’s Rahul Kohli will guest star on Supergirl as Jack Spheer, aka the future (?) Biomax. They add “His arrival stirs up front page news as well as feelings in his old flame Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath).”

A few other media notes that may be of interest to you…

Your Oscar winners and speeches are here if you missed them.

Doctor Who Season 10 premieres on BBC America on April 15th but if you enjoy seeing the show on the big screen…

Some exciting news: I got the go-ahead from the editors at the site I write for, to do a weekly series on guilt and how its portrayed on film, during Lent. First entry’s up today! http://www.talkfilmsociety.com/columns/losing-my-religion-arsenic-and-old-lace

Saw Logan last night. It was… well, whatever expectation you got from that first trailer? It stuck that landing. It fulfilled that promise. It was everything I ever wanted.

Please don’t be the parents in the theater with me watching with their small children. Please.

  7. I wanted to wait until I’d seen the trailers before commenting…

I’m excited for the claustrophobic tone of the ship scenes, but the new trailer takes place outdoors as much as not, which gives me pause…I don’t like seeing the alien in daylight. And might we have a hint of plot? If that’s the crashed ship that took off at the end of Prometheus…

JSYK, Jill, Tilda Swinton is the odds on favorite to be the next Doctor. He’d be both a woman and a ginger.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (series) turned 20 today. 20 years old. I still remember watching the premiere with my parents. God, I feel old.

    • I was so so so excited for that show. I had loved the movie and seeing all the ads for the show in a actual hard copy TV Guide had me freaking out.

      • I’ve been listening to the Sunnydale Stacks podcast (plug plug!) and it’s really made me want to rewatch for a third time. I wonder if I’ll ever stop loving it.

I remember those ads. It seemed like a run-of-the-mill monster of the week show by those ads (I avoided the movie for no particular reason), which it was, at first. But now it’s 20 years old, and like, four of the cast members are showing any signs of being any older, which is just unfair.

At first I think I’m out, and then you draw me back in…..with FLEETWOOD!!!

(Not that I was really out. Even if GOTG got stale for me quicker than other Marvel movies, I would have been there for Baby Groot)
