Breaking news of sorts. X-Files star David Duchovny has checked himself into a rehab center. For sexual addiction. No, this isn’t (as far as I know) promotion for the next season of Showtime’s Emmy Nominated Californication, this is for real.
People.com was the first to report. “I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction. I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family,” Duchovny said in his exclusive statement to the magazine.
This news comes as a shock from Duchovny who’s been married to actress Téa Leoni for over ten years and with whom he has two children. The statment was delivered by his lawyer Stanton Stein and was later confirmed by his publicist Flo Grace to the Associated Press.
The new season of Californication begins September 28. I’m sure the irony of his character, a sex-obsessed writer, and this real life drama will not be lost on anyone in the coming weeks.

Tara, it MUST be that he wasn’t an addict then. Or, maybe you were the one who made him turn. Maybe that image of you is what keeps him going, he can’t get it out of his head! I know, that still doesn’t help you. :(
again, i ask why he did not have sex with me when given the opportunity. i mean, it’s not everyday a girl gets half naked and has bologna thrown at her boobs for you, ya know?? the only acceptable excuse is that he was not a sex addict 8 years ago.

It just goes to show that addiction whether alcohol, drugs or sex can happen to anyone anywhere no matter what their status is. Especially to people you least expect it. This has to be tough on the family and especially his wife.
