Watch Harry Potter Transfigure into a 90s Sitcom

Considering J.K. Rowling started writing Harry Potter in the 90s it’s a bit surreal to be watching a 90s sitcom version of the films. But this is too good to pass up.

While fan trailers like this one pop up now and then, this one was actually put gether by Comedy Central UK (though I’m sure there’s a few Harry Potter fans there). They utilize clips from The Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets which works out quite well for comedic value.

  1. This works so well!

  2. It seems to me that instead of a sitcom, this opening has more the feel of a 90s dramedy, like Quantum Leap, Murder She Wrote, or another evening-shown hour-long production.

Nearly-Headless Nick’s cake at his 500th deathday party listed his date of death as October 31, 1492, so technically the books take place from 1991-1998–the perfect era for a ’90s sitcom!
