Zack Snyder May Have Found the Best Way to Work With Aquaman Underwater in Justice League

If you’ve been wondering how Aquaman’s unique skill-set will be portrayed on film for Justice League, you’re in luck. Director Zack Snyder just revealed some movie magic.

Justice League is set to feature Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg and will be released on November 17. I’ve thought about Aquaman’s appearance on more than one occasion considering the DC Comics character lives underwater. There’s never really been a convincing underwater scene that wasn’t completely CGI or an actor holding their breath. As a reminder, here’s how Jason Momoa’s Aquaman was introduced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

It served its purpose of course but there’s no way they’d be able to do full scenes like that. Well, fast forward to the other day when Synder posted this short bit of video of Aquaman in Justice League on his Twitter account that…looks really good???

But how was such a look achieved? The movement was so graceful yet Momoa’s hair was flowing perfectly. Turns out, it’s a mix of things. The director posted the behind-the-scenes shot on Vero (some social media thing no one I know uses or can access) writing, “People were wondering whether he was CG or not. He’s not… hair and environment CG, otherwise all Jason.” Instagram user dcceuinverse was kind enough to repost so the rest of us could see.

In case you were wondering how It's done.

Of course we only have the briefest and fuzziest look at what the final product will look like but I think this was probably the best way to go about it. As long as they spend a lot of money on the hair portion it’s going to look fantastic (still not over that one part of Arrival where Amy Adams’ hair was just awful). What do you think?

I’ve been excited to see how DC would pull of Aquaman underwater and that does not disappoint – I kinda don’t even count the scene in BVS, mostly because there isn’t much there. I think it looks awesome.
