Batman is the best. At everything. We know this. Now it’s been established in the history books. An issue of Detective Comics #27, his first appearance, just sold for….$1,075,500. That beat the record set by a purchase of Action Comics #1, Superman’s first appearance, three days earlier for a measly $1,000,000. Thus proving, Batman is the best.

That’s exactly what I said when I read the previous owner of the issue paid $100 for it 40 years ago. I, for one, would like to know who these rich geeks are who keep buying $1 million comics. But like, really. If you have their number or email address, please pass it along. I’d like to be their friend. I’ll dress up like this if that’s what it takes.

So TECHNICALLY, the bid was lower on Detective, but then they got stiffed with a surcharge. Superman achieved one million just for his comic. Batman broke one million because of fees.
