Speak, Nerd, and Enter!

Slow week because of the 4th of July holiday in the U.S. but here’s your spot to talk about anything under the sun not already being covered on TheNerdyBird.com!

I restarted Steven Universe after giving it a shot a few years ago. I am officially hooked. I just watched Season 1, Episode 45 – “Rose’s Scabbard” – and I have heart eyes. Don’t spoil anything for me! I’ve avoided most chatter about the show over the years. P.S. Garnet is my favorite.

In other news:

Natalie Morales came out in a lovely essay!

A surprise book delivery this week…

Apparently I don’t need to make a list of what I want from season two of Riverdale.

In the meantime, I found this trailer a bit ago: https://youtu.be/JycCFypvgmI

Obviously I’d be more interested if he were played by an actual crip, but after last year’s Me Before Euthanasia catastrophe I’ll take any positive representation I can get. At least with this one he can’t be healed or “nobley” kill himself at the end if they’re actually sticking with Cavendish’s real life. And it should even manage to avoid being inspiration porn since the guy actually did stuff that was inspiring!

Any one reading the DC Looney Tunes crossovers? (or any other comics you wanna discuss) I’ve only tried Batman/Elmer Fudd (loved) & The Suicide Squad/Banana Splits (Eh, decent?) crossovers. kinda curious about some of the others.
Wonder Woman/Tazmanian devil just seems.. odd. I mean, they all do, but.. more so

    • I read the WW/Taz and Lobo/Wile E.

I have mixed feelings about the whole exercise, but I’m not against it whatsoever. WW/Taz is ridiculous and geared for a younger audience. Lobo is something else, somewhere between the violent spectrum of early ’00 Lobo comics and the character’s animated portrayal.

I read the Jonah Hex/Yosamitie Sam crossover. Quite good.

After Middleman I considered Natalie Morales to be a national treasure. Having read her essay, I am 100% behind a policy of protecting her at all costs. 100%.
