I… may have made all the sound effects/whistled all the music while scrolling through that.

That is amazing. I didn’t think an infographic could be made of the whole movie.

Going to try that comixology sub

  5. Full cast table reading of George Miller’s Justice League: Mortal is online. Not the original cast, obviously. I’m 40 minutes in and its pretty good so far. Combination of Tower of Babel with the Maxwell Lord/Brother Eye/OMAC storylines.

My work is doing a “walk to improve your health” challenge that I signed up for for a laugh. Today they handed out these cheap pedometers and a form to log your steps for the next three months, and at the end the person with the most steps will get some kind of prize. I have yet to decide exactly *how* I’m going to screw with them: either I need to put a big fat 0 for every day, or I’ll have to figure out some way to make the pedometer semi-accurate and work really hard to be number one so I can embarrass them by having a crip win their “walking” challenge. http://66.media.tumblr.com/355ebde98dfd6b5b5b6aeff3a6b9b741/tumblr_mtyhzqohhX1r5lqijo1_500.gif

Would the pedi read revolutions if you attached it to a wheel?

I’m planning to try that tomorrow. Today I’m keeping at my hip like it’s supposed to be.

Maybe there’s some sort of distance counter that’s made for bikes that would work? of course, that wouldn’t technically be counting “steps”

Finally downloaded and played Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri after fifteen years of hearing how it’s the greatest turn-based strategy game since MOO2, and– I was less than impressed. The AI is absolutely abominable. Every other faction tried to strong-arm and pronounce vendetta against me while Yang was off conquering half the planet.

“No, you idiot. I will not give you 300 energy for a peace treaty because you’re holy ass is getting spanked by someone with an army three times the size of your own on the other side. AND YOU! Tree-hugger! We have an alliance, stop sending your goddamn agents to steal my shit! This is why we can’t have nice things!”

I crushed Professor Brent Spiner and managed to finally organize a few others into a loose coalition, inflicting massive casualties on Yang’s forces with my far fewer, but more advanced units, in an attempt to buy the others time. In the end, though, it wasn’t enough because I couldn’t convince the representative of the UN who’s stated goals are peace and cooperation to betray Yang, the one who probably takes tours concentration camps on “take your kids to work day”.

Now that I think about it, that’s probably a fair representation of how stupid the UN can be in real life.

The UI also hasn’t aged well in the slightest. I am tempted to buy Civilization: Beyond Earth, but I haven’t heard many good things about that either.

I dunno, I always thought it was the best of the Civ series. The AI could have been better, though I don’t know that it was any worse than any other Civ game. But the social engineering mechanic, though not perfect, gave me much more of a feel of making actual policy decisions that mattered than any other Civ game I have played (from 1 through 4; haven’t played 5).

My second favorite, not an official Civ game but ripping off the basic gameplay, was Master of Magic. Civ with spells! And heroes, long before Civ introduced great persons and the like.

Just Saw Civil War. So……What are some good Black Panther Story-lines?

    • Zefram Mann says:

They only one I’ve read was written by Hudlin, so my advice would be to start with anything but that.

  9. Guess who has tickets for the Kills when they come to Dallas this fall. I do. I have tickets.

Ant-Man himself, Paul Rudd, guest voiced a Bob’s Burgers episode last week. His role was a thing of beauty.

  11. The Ritter/action figure article reminded me: has anyone seen the new line of action figures and costumes DC has out for, presumably, little girls, as opposed to all the crap geared toward, presumably, little boys? I saw that the other day and, honestly…well done them. I expect they’re a cartoon tie-in.

I loved the newest issue of Spider-Woman. I think it’s so cool her alt universe counterpart is a dude, and I liked his origin story!

    • the silver ravens says:

i love all the spider-women comics out right now but i can’t afford keep up with all of them (silk, spider-gwen and spider-woman) i try and get them when they go on sale

  13. Skemono says:

    SPIDERS!!

Oh my gosh, have you seen the golden wheel spider? It does cartwheels!

Ooh, ooh, or the flic-flac spider! It does somersaults!

Or the diving bell spider, which lives underwater and traps air bubbles to breathe! I want to see a mer-spider now!

Or the decoy spider, which makes fake spiders out of trash to trick predators! So even when you think you’ve seen the spider, you can’t be sure that there’s not a spider puppeteer pulling its–and your–strings!

Or, or the peacock spiders, which are just adorable!

    SPIDERS!!

So, I haven’t seen much talk about the new revelations regarding DC’s Rebirth thing. I know people are avoiding spoilers, but honestly, what I am hearing so far is not making me regret my decision to cancel my DC stuff.

    • Chris says:

I’ll admit, from what I’ve heard I almost have to admire how much they’re willing to go into “this is a bad idea” territory.

  15. Chris says:

There are some days I love making board games. Yesterday and the next two days, where I have to bring 3 different games to close, after working my day job, are not those kinds of days.

Still kinda beat up from last night’s episode of Game of Thrones. The quality of this season has really stepped up, and the emotional stakes are more present than in the last two seasons combined, it feels like. The political machinations I enjoy so much are still there, if slightly less at the forefront, but if it’s in service of granting greater depth to the characters, I’m perfectly okay with that. Plus, we’re three episodes in and no one’s been brutalized yet, which is a very strange sentence to type.
