The First Teaser For David S. Goyer’s Krypton TV Show Is Here

[UPDATE: Sorry, looks like the trailer wasn’t meant to be released yet. It’s been pulled everywhere.]

I haven’t been super enthusiastic about David S. Goyer and Syfy’s Krypton television show and I’m not sure the first teaser has changed my mind. But it is intriguing.

We first heard about this project last year before Supergirl had gotten renewed for a second season so that was certainly part of my annoyance. But I’m generally not a fan of Goyer and I was hoping to see more projects with a diverse lead get greenlighted before more stories about white men. Here’s the synopsis.

Syfy’s Krypton, the much-anticipated Superman prequel set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, will follow Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.

Cameron Cuffe stars as (young) grandfather Seg-El while Georgina Campbell (soon to be seen in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) plays Lyta Zod. Game of Thrones actor Ian McElhinney is Seg’s grandfather Val-El.

The series is said to take place around 200 years before Man of Steel. Damian Kindler (Sanctuary, Sleepy Hollow) is showrunner and written/executive produced by Ian Goldberg. There’s no premiere date as of yet though the teaser says Krypton will debut this year.

  1. […] Ann Ogbomo is Phillipus. She must have impressed WB, she was also recently cast as Primus Alura Zod for Syfy’s Krypton. […]

  2. […] it. Warner Bros. has a lot going on television these days, mostly on The CW, but they also recently branched out to the Syfy channel for their Krypton show. While we were waiting to hear where Young Justice Season 3 would land, we were only partly right […]

Evidently it was “unofficial” and got taken down, but that’s what reaction videos are for! ;)

This looks a lot like a rejected YA manuscript retrofitted to a recognizable property.

    – I thought that the actor was Gregg Sulkin, and I was about to riot.
    – In what alternate dimension are all great historical events put in motion by twenty-somethings?

I’m waiting for the moment that he creates an army, and then they all stand around him chanting, “Seg-El! Seg-El! Seg-El!”
