DoubleDCoverage 11/19-11/26

My latest DoubleDCoverage is now up at GEN! A little later than usual since new books are coming out Thursday because of the holiday. For once, I remembered.

Read some more about the big R.I.P. conclusion and check out Wonder Woman’s newest (and scariest) villain. Other highlights include the latest The Brave and the Bold, the JSA specials and a new and improved Wonder Girl.

Really? Wow. That’s a guy who used to write for Valiant back in the 90s. I never really cared for his work there. Maybe I’ll skip it after all.

Sound like ‘padding’ to me. It’s probably a story intended for a Halloween special that they thought would be better as a mini-series. But the writer didn’t really have a good way of doing that.

    Who’s writing it??

  3. Hmm, well I don’t like the art so maybe that’s part of it but it’s mainly how the story is sort of going nowhere fast. I think I might have said in one of my other recaps of it that it could have all been told in one or two issues. Six were definitely not needed. There’s a whole lot of nothing happening in each issue. They stand around saying, “I wonder why this is happening?” then some vampires or werewolves attack, they kill them and then stand around wondering again. I’ll let you know if the end redeems it all but probably not.

I notice that you mention that you despise the Superman and Batman vs. Vampires and Werewolves mini-series. I haven’t been reading it but was thinking of picking up the TPB when it comes out, as I love Tom Mandrake’s art. Plus I’m a sucker for werewolf stories.

What’s going on in it? What’s wrong with it?
