Nerdy News: Avengers: Infinity War Production Begins, The Batman May Have Found a Replacement Director & More

Late Friday Marvel released a production video for Avengers: Infinity War. It was just what the doctor ordered.

In other Marvel news, /Film noticed director Josh Boone tweeted an image of the character Wolfsbane. It featured art by Ashley Guillory but he also tagged Maisie Williams who was previously rumored to be playing the character in Fox’s New Mutants film. This would seem to indicate she is indeed going to be in the film.

Variety reports Matt Reeves is in talks to take over the director chair for Warner Bros.’ The Batman from Ben Affleck who stepped down last month. Reeves directed Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes and Variety says it’s all but a sure thing at this point. “Affleck will still have a significant role in the direction of the film,” they write, “after writing the script with Geoff Johns, but he will now have more time to focus on acting.”

Also from Variety, Westworld star Thandie Newton is in talks for the Han Solo film. Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, Variety isn’t sure who she’d play in the Star Wars spinoff but I think I can safely say we’re all thinking Sana Starros. They also noted Phoebe Waller-Bridge is in talks for a “CGI-driven performance.” Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, and Emilia Clarke are already confirmed to star.

Finally today, in what was surely a decision spurred by common sense (unlike Grammy voting), Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt released a Beyoncé/Lemonade themed promo video for Season 3. It’s wonderful.

Season 3 will start streaming May 19th.

  1. […] good reason I think, to step away. Reeves, who’s also directed Cloverfield and Let Me In, was said to be in talks and then it looked as if they were going to loose him too. According to Deadline it looks like it […]

  2. […] We already knew production had begun on the Han Solo Star Wars spinoff but StarWars.com released this image of (some of) the cast today as well as a few new bits. My first thought on this one was, “Donald Glover just wants everyone to move over so he can fly the ship.” But my second thought was, “Where is Thandie Newton???” […]

  3. […] Manhattan. I first brought up Rogue One (which she loved), and then the Han Solo movie (did you see the latest casting news??). Now, as Garcia pointed out, she’s biased about that Star Wars project because it features […]
